Scoil Bhreac Chluain, Annascaul, Co. Kerry participated in a small pilot programme in 2013. 3rd & 4th class worked on the programme. The school identified many links to the school curriculum and covered topics such as; parts of the flower, seed dispersal and pollination, and investigated how plant and animal life is influenced and adapts to changing environments. Students also learned about the importance of trees and how to identify trees by the buds in winter. The students researched what trees would be most suitable to plant on their schools grounds and decided on Alder. They planted there Alder in the school and a further seven oak trees in the community.
